1945—Irving Missner
Irv Missner was a man of extreme integrity, was supremely trusted and a man of his word. He strived always to do the right thing and coined our “Handshake” mantra here at the Missner Group. Irv was proud of the foundation and business he established and would be equally at how his son and grandchildren have carried the torch.
Having received a degree in architectural engineering from the University of Illinois in 1937, Mr. Missner took his newly minted diploma working throughout the Midwest during WW 2 on a variety of projects, culminating with the construction of homes for veterans returning from overseas.
As that work dissipated, Mr. Missner began his own company in 1945, Missner Construction Company. Irv rented a small office across the street from Comiskey Park, and the company was formed with one employee….Irv.
Shortly after opening that first office, Mr. Missner was successful in solidifying a multifamily apartment building in Chicago, requiring the expansion of the company only two short years after opening that first office on Chicago’s south side.
A parcel of land was purchased at 2940 West Campbell on Chicago’s north side, where Mr. Missner built a building to meet the needs of his growing business. By 1950 the office personnel had expanded, and the company was self-performing, carpentry, masonry, and concrete, with more than fifty employees in the field servicing those trades. Missner Construction Company remained in that location until 1970.
Subsequently, the company expanded again, building a new headquarters in Skokie IL. Mr. Missner remained active and engaged in all company affairs until his retirement in 1975, whereby he turned the reigns over to his son Judd.

1975—Judd Missner
Judd Missner marks the second generation of leadership at The Missner Group, beginning his career as a laborer at 15 and rising through the ranks to CEO by 1975. Under his leadership, the company expanded into real estate development, significantly growing throughout the 1980s and 1990s and forming The Missner Group. Judd retired in 2010, passing the mantle to his sons.
Judd Missner marks the second generation of leadership at The Missner Group. Beginning his career as a laborer at 15 years old, Mr. Missner spent summer breaks in high school and college working in the construction trade.
Mr. Missner Graduated from the University of Illinois in 1959. After years of collaborating with his father Irv, and laborers within the company, he progressed through roles as a tradesman, field superintendent, estimator, project manager, and executive, truly learning the role from the "ground up". By 1975 he was prepared to lead Missner Construction Company.
Much like his father, Judd had a thorough understanding of the construction process from inception to completion. He valued integrity, emphasized the importance of a person's word, handshake, and treatment of colleagues, and carried these forward truly cementing them as the foundation of the company.
Early in his new role as CEO of Missner Construction, Mr. Missner, with guidance from industry mentors, ventured into real estate development. He quickly realized the impact he could make in the Chicagoland area and brought on a partner to oversee construction operations. With the ability to focus on development, Judd began dialing in on the real estate market, targeting primarily industrial, medical office, and commercial office buildings.
The company experienced significant growth throughout the 1980s and 1990s, most notably the real estate development group. As a result of the expanding portfolio of real estate, a property and asset management group was formed alongside the growing general contracting and real estate development entities, bringing with it the era of The Missner Group.
Judd worked shoulder to shoulder with son’s Glen and Barry continuing to grow the business up and until his retirement in 2010. While Judd remained on consulting with the business through 2013, the mantle had officially been handed off to Glen and Barry.
Mr. Missner now resides outside of Las Vegas offering wisdom and insight but still taking some much-deserved time at the Poker Table!

Present Day
We have come a long way from, steel toed boots in the office, original blueprints, handwritten references, bookkeepers, and little technology. In the end however we could not have achieved three generations and 80 years in business this without staying true to our roots and relying on the dedicated team members that have been the richest part of our history.
As we continue to grow, we are committed to hiring individuals who are authentic, value our handshake mantra and are enthusiastic about building strong relationships with their colleagues.
We are extremely grateful for the past 79 years and look forward to continuing building not only our legacy, but the legacies of our clients as well.

Thanks to the efforts of all the great and hardworking people who have made up our teams over the years. Recognizing those who have made the wheels turn from construction and development and property and asset management, none of it is possible without our current team and the legacy of great people over our 8 decades that have made TMG what is today.
As a result, we have endured many ups and downs and in the end have completed over $3 billion in construction, $500 million in development, and currently operate dozens of assets in the Chicagoland area.
In addition to striving to enhance our business platform, our team is highly devoted to enriching the communities through our philanthropic endeavors where we live and work. We actively contribute and volunteer with numerous local organizations such as Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Research, Lurie Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Christmas in the Wards, and many more.
