CRE Future Leaders: Cody Balogh, The Missner Group
Cody Balogh has been with The Missner Group for three years and currently serves as project analyst.
Tell us about your background. Where did you grow up, where did you go to school?
I grew up in Batavia, Illinois, which is a western suburb of Chicago. I lived there for my entire childhood (Go Bulldogs). While in High School I was recruited to play soccer at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, from which I ended up graduating with a degree in accounting and a degree in finance.
How did you get your start in the industry?
I actually stumbled my way into the industry. I had been working as an analyst for a retirement services company and saw The Missner Group job posting and decided to apply. Upon meeting with Barry Missner and the team I knew it was a great fit and jumped in head first.
Did you have a mentor who helped you get on your feet, or is there someone you turn to now for support?
I turn to the whole team at The Missner Group for support. As a small team we are constantly collaborating, and someone is always there to help if you have any questions. Since I have been at TMG both Barry Missner and Ed Adler have been instrumental in my growth and are always there to help me and guide me when I need it.
What do you like most about your job?
I love that every day is different. As a project analyst at The Missner Group we are constantly working on new projects as well as having to deal with our current properties. So that ability to get my hands dirty on various projects on a day-to-day basis is what makes the job fun.
Looking to the future, what do you hope to achieve/work on that you haven’t already?
In the future, I just want to continue to help The Missner Group grow. We have some really great projects coming in the next few years and I want to help continue that success and grow even bigger, both professionally and personally.
How do you spend your time away from the office?
Away from the office, I am always trying to stay active by playing in a few different soccer leagues in the city. Other than that, you can find me playing golf, traveling and visiting friends, going to as many Cubs game as possible and in the summer spending time at the lake.
What is your favorite place that you have traveled to? Where do you hope to go next?
I was lucky enough to spend a semester of college in Italy and we visited some incredible places. The best part of that trip was going to Cinque Terre in Southern Italy. The views and experiences were incredible. Next on my list is Portugal.
Who would you like to see answer these questions?
Allison Heraty from The Missner Group, or any other young professional I work with day-to-day. Everyone’s story is different, so it is always neat to hear what they have accomplished and how they got to where they are today.
